Other Funding Opportunities
With grant-giving bodies offering an increasing variety of project funding opportunities it is becoming critical to choose carefully between the various funding options available. It is not only difficult to know what is available at any given time but it is also easy to overlook grant programmes that may be particularly relevant to your specific project needs.
Provided here is a brief guide to some of the funding programmes on offer by organisations that fund archives. Use the guide as a quick reference tool to ascertain whether a particular funding programme is a good match for your proposed project activity and to compare funding criteria to help you choose between like programmes.
The guide includes a brief summary on the remit of the relevant grant-giving body and a breakdown of each funding programme according to key programme objectives, eligibility and funding criteria, timetable for applications and further contact details. If you have suggestions for the inclusion of other funding programmes not detailed in this summary please contact the Archive Lottery Adviser.
For broader information on National Lottery funding there is the National Lottery Funding Search (Helpline 0845 275 0000) which is a quick guide to the right distributor for your project. For information on government funding for the voluntary and community sectors there is the Government Funding Website.
If you are looking for a more basic introduction to fundraising you may wish to look at the NCA's Introduction To Fundraising For Archives. The guide is aimed at creating an understanding of the different fundraising methods and some general principles for applying them. There are also some suggestions on developing funding applications in Guide to Giving Value.
