Grant Award: Your Heritage (£49,000)

A project to catalogue and repackage the archives of Whitstable Urban District council and the collection of Wallace Harvey, A Whitstable local historian; and to provide access to these catalogues via the Access to Archives (A2A), and the Catherdral Archives websites. Also to promote the records at local events, in exhibitions and in the press, to raise awareness of their rich potential for the study of local, family and social history; and to produce resources for use by schools and community groups.

Outcomes

The provision of an online catalogue to these records; optimum preservation of the records; improved awareness of the records as a heritage asset; increased use of archive material in research and in learning; improved understanding of the history of Whitstable both in the local community and beyond.
